9/11 New York City

•September 13, 2008 • 1 Comment

A date that we will never forget, everyone knows exactly where they were and what they were doing on this date seven years ago. A cowardly act by terrorist to strike fear into the citizens of the United States and countries all over the world. However till this day we stay strong and united and on September 11 of each year we take the day to remember the fallen heroes and family members that were affected by this event. New York City displays an amazing set of lights that shoot straight into the air on this date to give us a warm feeling and a sense that in some way the world trade center still stands tall. This set of lights is visible from space and is located about 2 blocks south of ground zero. I took this picture around 10:30PM on the day of 9/11/2008.

Though the last couple of days have been HOT and HUMID here in NYC you can still feel and see everyone getting ready for fall. With stores getting ready with tons of Halloween accessories to Baseball divisional races heating up, October is right around the corner. I have not had much time to take pictures lately but did manage to capture this Panorama off the Staten Island ferry on my way to a Brooklyn Cyclones vs Staten Island Yankees game. I will be working on new projects verrry Soon.

The New York Mets have been working with getting their future hall of fame pitcher Pedro Martinez back to old form. While that happens in the Major Leagues, they are also bringing up a future star who goes by the name of Pedro Martinez. I guess we will be seeing Pedro Martinez’s in the rotation for a long time!!! I have attended several Brooklyn Cyclones games this year and have seen the New York Mets minor league ball club in action. Im very excited to tell you that Minor League News has been nice enough to feature one of my pictures taken of Pedro Martinez in their Major Moments Section. Check it out!!

Cancun, Mexico

I recently visited Cancun, Mexico for the first time in almost 10 years and I absolutely fell inlove with the experience. I took six days out of my two weeks vacation to have a small get away. I was looking to relax and have some fun in the night life more than anything but during some tours that we took I lugged my camera with only my 17-55mm f2.8 IS lens. Its the first real test I had with this lens travel wise; though it was kind of bulky I am pleased with the results. Below are shots taken with only my 17-55mm f.2.8 IS lens.

The Unisphere is a symbol of the New York worlds fair which took place in 1964 and 1965. It stands over 12 Stories high and weighs 900,000 pounds. Located in flushing meadow park this is an amazing structure to visit. It was built by US Steel Corporation as a symbol of world peace and since then has been visited by millions of people including photographers, film makers, athletes and your average person just going for a walk through this beautiful park.
